Take an old-fashioned hayride

Hop on board for a good old-fashioned Trolley ride around La Union Maze! It's a good way to see the sights around the farm, and we know you'll have a good time. We might even break out the ole guitar and sing a few cowboy songs to get you in the farmin' mood.

First Stop: The Cotton Field

Cotton FieldYou can get off the Trolley ride and try your hand at picking cotton, just as soon as the crop comes in this fall. We're thinking it will be about ready for pickin' in early October. Watch for Noticias! in our blog to find out just when!

Walk down the rows and see blue jeans and fluffy little cotton balls in the making! Learn what it means to be "in high cotton". We'll have bags for you to take home any cotton that you pick.

• Teachers: Check 'Noticias!' for lesson plans, cotton facts, coloring sheets, and interesting articles about growing cotton.

Next Stop: Pumpkins 'n Chiles Patch

Pumpkin Vines Wait until you see all the varieties of pumpkins we have growing! Big pumpkins and baby-sized ones. Tall pumpkins and short squatty ones.

We have pumpkins that are just right for making pies and pumpkin bread, and we have others that are perfect for carving into Jack (or Jill) O'Lanterns. We even have pumpkins that you can paint faces on! Pick your own pumpkin and take it home with you.

• Look in 'Noticias!' for pumpkin and squash recipes, and for ideas for carving your pumpkins with spooky Halloween faces.

Chiles And ... the pumpkin patch is just full of fresh CHILES of several varieties and flavors that New Mexico is famous for. Pick a peck of peppers while you're in the Pumpkin Patch!

Did we mention TOMATOES? Not the hothouse variety with as much flavor as a styrofoam ball, but real tasty red tomatoes that have ripened on the vine. Yum!

Plus ... our pumpkin patch also grows GOURDS, which are cousins to pumpkins. They are great for craft projects, fall table decorations, or mini-bird houses. It's fun to see gourds growing!

Next Stop: The Bloomin' Garden

Flower Garden Bring your sweetheard to La Union Maze and take her on the Trolley ride. Stop off at the Flower Garden, and pick a beautiful bouquet of colorful flowers for her to take home.
